How to Connect the TikTok Pixel to Your Store
Connect the TikTok Pixel for ad tracking on your online store. Find your pixel code, optionally generate an Events API token, paste them into Rovela.
TikTok ads only optimize as well as the data you feed them. The TikTok Pixel sends purchase and behavior signals back so the algorithm can find more customers like the ones already buying. This guide walks through the TikTok side: create a pixel in Events Manager, find your pixel code, optionally add the Events API for server-side accuracy, and paste it all into Rovela.
What the TikTok Pixel does
The TikTok Pixel tracks visits, product views, cart adds, and purchases on your store. TikTok uses that data to optimize bidding (Maximize Conversions, Cost Cap) and to build lookalike audiences from your existing customers. Without it, your campaigns plateau quickly.
Pairs well with the Events API — TikTok's server-side companion that captures conversions ad blockers and iOS would otherwise hide. Both are free.
Before you start
- 10 minutes
- A TikTok Ads Manager account (free to create)
- A live Rovela store
Step 1: Open TikTok Events Manager
Sign in to TikTok Ads Manager. Click Tools in the top navigation, then Events Manager. Click Connect data source.
Step 2: Pick Web and Manual Setup
Choose Web as your connection type. Enter your store URL. On the next screen, you'll see two options: Partner Setup (for Shopify, GTM, etc.) and Manual Setup. Pick Manual Setup — Rovela handles the install for you.
Name your pixel — "My Store Pixel" works. Pixel name limit is 128 characters. Click Confirm.
Step 3: Find your pixel code
After creation, your pixel code is shown at the top of the pixel page. It starts with C followed by 14–18 alphanumeric characters (e.g. C123ABC456DEF789GHI). Copy it.
If you need to find this later: Events Manager → click your pixel in the left list → the code is at the top.
Step 4: Generate an Events API access token (optional but recommended)
Inside your pixel page, go to Settings. Find the Events API section. Click Generate access token. Copy the token immediately — TikTok only shows it once.
Server-side events from the Events API typically lift attributed conversions by 10–25% on TikTok. Worth doing if you spend more than ~$500/month on TikTok ads.
Step 5: Paste it into Rovela
Open the Rovela Features Store. Go to Insights & Tracking → Connect TikTok Pixel. Paste your C… pixel code. Optionally paste your Events API token. Click Connect TikTok Pixel.
Step 6: How to tell it's working
Back in Events Manager, click your pixel and open the Test events tab. Visit your store in another tab and click through a few products. Events appear in the test panel within seconds.
You can also use Web Diagnostics in the same pixel page — TikTok auto-flags any setup issues with suggested fixes.
Common questions
- Why does TikTok use different event names than Meta? They're separate platforms. TikTok uses
ViewContent,AddToCart,PlaceAnOrder, andCompletePayment. Rovela maps everything correctly so you don't have to think about it. - Do I need a paid TikTok Ads campaign for this? The pixel is free, but it only powers ads when you actually run TikTok campaigns. You can install the pixel before launching ads — it'll start collecting data immediately.
- How long until events appear? Within 1–2 minutes for browser events. Standard reports update every few hours.
- Can I use Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel together? Yes — and you should. They don't conflict. Add both in Rovela and run campaigns on both platforms.
Connect TikTok Pixel in one click with Rovela
Rovela handles the script tag with EU consent gating, all six TikTok ecommerce events with the right names and parameters, and server-side dedup when you add the Events API. Start with Rovela or pair TikTok with Meta Pixel for cross-channel social reach and Google Analytics for unified reporting.
